Well, the first day of spring has arrived here on the North Shore, but it still feels and looks like winter around here. With the warmer temperatures, a little melting on the edges of the Gooseberry River has begun. Upper Gooseberry Falls now has some open running water. It will be awhile before we see it gushing over the falls. It’s a great time of the year to be here if you like to see lots of water in the rivers and to see the falls really running. The ice on Lake Superior is breaking up and moving around with the wind directions. It is piling up on the shore in some locations. The ice breaker is working in the Duluth harbor to create shipping lanes and can be seen working most days.
